Don’t miss these two magnificent spots and discover, less than two hours from Cape Town, the beach at Kraalbaai.
Langebaan
Côte ouest – 130 km – 1h20 de CT
Langebaan is a charming coastal town located on the west coast of South Africa, approximately 120 kilometres north of Cape Town. Known for its magnificent lagoon, Langebaan offers white sandy beaches and stunning seascapes.
I would recommend basing yourself here. The atmosphere is much livelier than in Paternoster, with numerous bars and restaurants. The beach is beautiful and you can watch skysurf enthusiasts showing off their skills.
Paternoster
Côte ouest – 160 km – 1h45 de CT
Paternoster is a fishing village located on the west coast of South Africa, approximately 90 kilometres north of Cape Town. Famous for its peaceful atmosphere.
A pleasant place to spend an afternoon wandering around, taking in its whitewashed fishermen’s cottages (with something of a Greek village feel) and strolling along the beach. Nothing more, nothing less.
West Coast National Park
A must on this day of walking and discovery, the West Coast National Park covers 30,000 hectares of marshland and dunes. A paradise for hikers, cyclists, mountain bikers, birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.
The fourth largest ornithological reserve in the world, the park welcomes a total of more than 250 bird species per year — more than a quarter of South Africa’s total. Notable sightings include sandpipers, flamingos, gannets, sanderlings and wading birds. You will also likely encounter ostriches, zebras and antelopes.
Park entrance fee: 130R per person
Within the lagoon, walk and swim at Kraalbaai beach in warm, crystal-clear water. An absolute must. (25 minutes by car once inside the national park.)
