Chef Bertus Basson’s new venture is an ambitious one: an ultra-modern glass-walled dining room overlooking the magnificent landscape of the Waterkloof wine estate and False Bay. Open since October 2022, Chorus serves exclusively four or six-course seasonal tasting menus. Raw tuna with apricots, almonds, chilli and Jamestown herbs, or crispy confit chicken with langoustine, sweet corn and peas — a culinary journey you won’t regret.

Following the closure of Overture, Hidden Valley has opened “The Restaurant.” Gastronomic cuisine rich in flavour and originality, with lunch served overlooking a valley of olive trees and vineyards. A destination for a high-end meal that remains rather good value for money.

The drive up to Delaire is already magnificent in itself, but lunch or dinner on the terrace offers an exceptional view that you are unlikely to forget anytime soon. Opt for lunch over dinner to make the most of the stunning setting in full daylight. The food is of very high quality, though regulars note it is on the pricier side.

Spier is one of the oldest and most celebrated wine estates in Stellenbosch. Picnic on the lawns, with a selection that may include Greek salad, roasted cauliflower and celery salad, quinoa, brown and basmati rice, curry-marinated carrots, roast beef, cheese and fruit chutney — among other seasonal offerings.

Warwick winery offers a picnic basket to enjoy seated on the lawn in the shade of a parasol. Accompanied by a good bottle of wine, you can share a selection of terrines, salads and cheeses. Warwick also offers a more classic bistro option, including homemade burgers (see menu).
